Two young researchers involved in malignant pleural mesothelioma research receive award
The Buzzi Unicem Foundation made a meaningful contribution to supporting the work of scientists involved in malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) research by awarding two young Italian researchers with a check of 2,000 euros each during the 62nd Annual Congress of the Società Italiana di Cancerologia (Italian Cancer Society, SIC), held in Venice on 16-18 November.
The two researchers awarded were Federica Torricelli and Sara Marchisio (click on their names to download their respective abstracts).
The Italian Cancer Society (SIC) is an apolitical, non-profit association that brings together cancer experts to support developments in both the experimental and clinical-welfare fields; facilitate scientific collaborations and synergies between biomedical cancer researchers; establish relationships with similar national and foreign associations; advocate for cancer education in science faculties; support the training and professional growth of young researchers working in the field; implement actions aimed at promoting and increasing cancerology and safeguarding the professional interests of its experts.
The Association also organizes initiatives (congresses, meetings, symposia, etc.) aimed at the continuous education of doctors and health professionals (as currently mandated by the SSN (national health system), and to inform and increase awareness among the public, media and health authorities about discoveries and topics of social and welfare interest in the field of oncology.
In 2023, the Buzzi Unicem Foundation will continue to fund awards for young researchers involved in MPM diagnosis and treatment research.
